Strengthen Regional Integration and Intra-African Trade
Objective :
Boost intra-African trade by 50% by 2030 through support for AfCFTA and regional value chains.
Activities :
- AfCFTA Protocol Implementation Support
- By 2027, assist 20 African countries in fully implementing AfCFTA protocols, including
trade facilitation, rules of origin, and tariff harmonization.
- Develop a digital AfCFTA Compliance Toolkit for member states to monitor progress,
share best practices, and identify bottlenecks.
- Conduct annual peer-learning workshops to build institutional capacity and promote
knowledge exchange across countries.
- Regional Value Chain Development
- Support the creation of 15 integrated regional value chains by 2030 in priority sectors
such as agriculture, manufacturing, energy, and digital industries.
- Facilitate cross-border partnerships, supply chain financing, and technical assistance to
SMEs, cooperatives, and industrial clusters.
- Introduce innovation-driven value addition programs that incorporate technology,
sustainable practices, and inclusive participation for women and youth entrepreneurs.
- Regional Trade Forums and REC Cooperation
- Organize 10 annual regional trade forums to enhance collaboration among Regional
Economic Communities (RECs) and facilitate dialogue on trade policies, standards, and
investment opportunities.
- Launch a Virtual African Trade Forum Platform to ensure participation of remote
stakeholders, increase transparency, and track outcomes digitally.
- Publish annual Regional Trade Progress Reports highlighting achievements, challenges,
and opportunities for integration.
- Capacity Building and Technical Assistance
- Train 1,500 policymakers, trade negotiators, and private sector actors by 2030 on
AfCFTA implementation, trade facilitation, and regional integration strategies.
- Develop specialized e-learning modules on intra-African trade, digital trade logistics,
and value chain optimization.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, and Innovation
- Implement a Regional Integration Dashboard to track AfCFTA adoption, value chain
performance, and trade flows.
- Introduce innovation grants to pilot cross-border trade solutions, digital logistics
platforms, and sustainable supply chain initiatives.
