Promote Climate Resilience and Environmental Sustainability

Objective :

Ensure that by 2030, 40% of GCATRED-supported investments are climate-smart and environmentally sustainable.

Activities :

  • By 2028, support the adoption of climate-smart agriculture (CSA) practices in 15
    African countries, including precision farming, drought-resistant crops, and sustainable
    irrigation systems.
  • Launch a Pan-African Climate Agriculture Knowledge Hub to provide training, best
    practices, and digital tools for farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses.
  • Conduct annual impact assessments to measure productivity gains, environmental
    benefits, and adoption rates.
  • By 2030, integrate green economy principles into 20 national trade and investment
    frameworks, including incentives for renewable energy, sustainable production, and
    circular economy initiatives.
  • Provide policy advisory services and workshops for governments and private sector
    stakeholders on climate finance, low-carbon investments, and ESG compliance.
  • Establish a Green Policy Dashboard to track adoption, compliance, and environmental
    outcomes across countries.
  • Monitor and enforce environmental and social safeguards in at least 50 major
    investment projects by 2030, covering sectors like mining, energy, and agriculture.
  • Develop a Sustainability Compliance Toolkit for investors, companies, and governments
    to ensure adherence to international standards (IFC, UN SDGs, AU Agenda 2063).
  • Conduct independent environmental audits and reporting annually, highlighting risks,
    mitigation measures, and best practices.
  • Train 1,500 policymakers, investors, and community leaders by 2027 on climate
    resilience, environmental management, and sustainable investment practices.
  • Launch digital awareness campaigns and e-learning platforms targeting communities
    and businesses to promote climate-smart and sustainable practices.
  • Promote smart technologies such as GIS mapping, remote sensing, and IoT for climate
    monitoring and resource management.
  • Support 5 pilot projects annually leveraging renewable energy, waste-to-value solutions,
    and sustainable land use practices.
